1. Commitment
Westport aims to make this Short-Term Rental permitting website usable by people with disabilities. As a local government service, the City is subject to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). U.S. Department of Justice rules for state and local government web content reference WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard the City targets for this application.
2. Conformance target
We design and build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA success criteria, including semantic structure, keyboard access, visible focus, form labels, sufficient contrast using the site design tokens, and alternatives that do not rely on color alone. Dark mode and language tools are provided where available; they do not replace accessible defaults.
Full conformance is an ongoing effort. Automated and manual review continue as features change. This statement does not certify that every page currently meets every WCAG 2.1 AA criterion.
3. Known limitations
- Some map views (Leaflet) and third-party embeds may have limited keyboard or screen-reader support.
- PDF or Office uploads provided by applicants may not be fully accessible; contact us for an alternate format when needed.
- Proof-of-concept or draft content may change quickly; temporary regressions can occur during testing.
4. Feedback and assistance
If you encounter an accessibility barrier, need information in an alternate format, or require assistance completing a permit-related task, please contact us:
- Phone: (360) 268-0131 (Monday–Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (closed from 12:30-1:30 PM daily))
- Submit a support request (preferred written channel for this site)
- Help / contact
Please describe the page URL, the problem, and your preferred contact method. We will work to provide a reasonable accommodation or accessible alternative consistent with ADA Title II obligations.
5. Formal complaints
You may also pursue remedies available under federal or state disability law, including filing a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division or other appropriate agencies. Using this site’s feedback process does not waive any legal rights.
